Some people believe in the notion that there’s only one person created perfectly for each of us. Perhaps it’s a romantic cliché, and if the truth be told, I had never believed such fairytales. But one person changed that for me.

How I met my wife could make a perfect romance book. But meeting her was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I was in my second year at college when I first met Marsha. It was the orientation for first year students and I was volunteering to help out. I was sitting at the registration table when I saw her walking over to me, looking bewildered and excited at the same time.

Probably, she was uncertain of what to expect. But her long flowing hair and petite frame just blew me away. Now, I’m not the type who believes in love at first sight, and I’m pretty sure what I felt when I first saw her was not love. And yet, it sure felt a lot like it.

There was something about Marsha that drew me to her. She seemed “real” amongst all the clutter in my life at that time.

But what I did after that was one of the most embarrassing moments I had ever experienced. So awestruck was I that I was in my own world whilst I just stared at her, not realizing that Marsha was talking to me.

A nudge from my friend sitting next to me broke the spell, albeit temporarily. I returned to reality, apologized and asked her how I could help.

Marsha asked for the registration list, but I was still somewhat under her spell and just wanted to take in more of her beauty despite returning to the real world.

Throughout the orientation process, my friend kept teasing me about Marsha. But he also encouraged me to talk to her. I did, but after a few days, when I hoped she would have forgotten about the registration incident.

It was four days after the orientation when I was having lunch with my friends in the cafeteria that she entered and sat at one of the tables alone. I tried too act suave and went over to her.

. She looked in my direction as I approached her, and for a minute I thought of turning back. However, Marsha was just too irresistible so I sat in front of her and introduced myself.

She laughed. Why? She said I looked so nervous as if I was going to sit for a test. From then on,we just talked each time we met. We shared numbers and called each other every so often.

Three years after graduating, we married at a simple ceremony as money was tight then. We have been married 12 years now and Marsha has been the better part of me throughout this time.

Marsha, my wife, friend, confident and the mother of my two beautiful daughters is still the same girl I met all thouse years ago.

So is Marsha that one single person that was perfectly created for me? Today, I truly believe so.
